The name "Reko" comes from the small washing station located in the Kochere, Yirgacheffe region. The washing station produces both washed and naturally processed cherries.
The coffee growing areas in this region range from 6,000 to 6,800 feet above sea level which is a fairly high altitude for growing coffee. The very cool nights of this altitude combined with the warm daytime temperatures, adequate rainfall of 70 to 80 inches per year, and naturally fertile soil provide excellent growing conditions. The coffee trees are of mixed heirloom varieties; not an uncommon situation in Ethiopia where coffee trees still grow wild in the forest and many tree varieties are still not catalogued.
Growing Altitude: 6,000 to 6,800 ft
Arabica Varieties: Heirloom varieties
Harvest Period: November-January
